The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is the world’s largest and most impactful fundraising event to end cancer. It unites communities across the globe to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action to finish the fight once and for all. Last Friday, June 12, with the support of thousands of local volunteers, the American Cancer Society held the Cape Girardeau County Relay for Life event.
For the past three years I have volunteered as the Accounting Chair of this worthy event and also as Team Captain for Alliance Bank’s team (Cape Girardeau branch) for the past two years. In support many of my coworkers at Alliance Bank dressed down in jeans and purple shirts (the American Cancer Society’s official color representing all cancer types). Alliance Bank raised a total of $865 for the American Cancer Society Relay For Life through our dress down day and other donating avenues. Alliance Bank is very supportive of employees being involved with community events.
